Construction Begins on Calistoga Road – Week of June 8

[new!] Construction on the Calistoga Road Pavement Rehabilitation & Utility Improvement Project is scheduled to begin the week of June 8. The contractor, Argonaut Constructors, will begin potholing operations along the corridor in preparation for upcoming underground utility work on the sewer and water pipelines. This work is expected to continue throughout the week.

Potholing involves digging small excavations to locate and expose existing underground utilities before larger work begins. This is a standard first step that helps crews plan the pipeline work safely and accurately. There should be minimal impacts to the public while this work is underway.

Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians traveling along Calistoga Road between Montecito Avenue and Highway 12 should expect construction activity in the area and allow additional travel time.

 

Online Community Meeting – Thursday, June 11

[new!] The City of Santa Rosa invites all community members to attend an online meeting to learn more about the Calistoga Road Pavement Rehabilitation & Utility Improvement Project. The project team will provide an overview of the work, share what to expect during construction, and discuss potential impacts to the surrounding community. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Underground Sewer Work to Begin – Week of June 15

[new!] Beginning the week of June 15, crews are scheduled to begin underground  sewer pipeline replacement work along Calistoga Road. The specific location where work will begin is still being finalized. We will provide details on the work location and any associated traffic impacts in next week's newsletter as that information becomes available. Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforseen circumstances.

 

Project Overview

The Calistoga Road Pavement Rehabilitation & Utility Improvement project will repair and restore approximately 1.1 miles of Calistoga Road using Full Depth Reclamation and mill and fill paving techniques to address worn and deteriorating road conditions.

Improvements will also include adding buffered and protected bike lanes in select locations while maintaining existing bike lanes elsewhere, improvements to bus stop infrastructure, and pedestrian curb ramps upgraded to current ADA standards.

In addition to roadway improvements, the project includes  water and sewer system upgrades, including approximately 7,629 linear feet of water pipe replacement and 1,825 linear feet of sewer pipe replacement.

 

Construction Notes

As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, cycling, or walking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and changing roadway conditions. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.

Standard work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Extended lane closures will be in effect from 7:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. These extended hours will remain only if disruptions to the school and surrounding community are not heavily impacted during the project.

Night work (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) and weekend work may occur with advance notice.
