Underground Sewer Work Underway at the Dupont Drive Intersection

[updated!] Crews are currently performing underground sewer pipeline replacement work at the intersection of Dupont Drive and Calistoga Road. While this work is underway, the traffic signal at the intersection has been set to flashing red. When approaching a flashing red signal, treat it as a four-way stop. Come to a complete stop, yield to vehicles and pedestrians already in the intersection, and proceed when it is safe to do so.

During the intersection work, motorists entering and exiting Dupont Drive at Calistoga Road are being detoured east to St. Francis Road. Vehicles traveling through the intersection on Calistoga Road will not be detoured. Motorists using the detour are reminded to observe posted speed limits while traveling through the surrounding residential streets.

This work is expected to be completed by the end of this week.

Coming Up: Sewer Work to Continue South Toward Merit Drive

[new!] Once work at the Dupont Drive intersection is complete, crews will continue installing the underground sewer pipeline south along Calistoga Road toward Marit Drive. Following that work, crews will begin installing new sewer laterals along Calistoga Road between Monte Verde Drive and Marit Drive.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Project Overview

The Calistoga Road Pavement Rehabilitation & Utility Improvement project will repair and restore approximately 1.1 miles of Calistoga Road using Full Depth Reclamation and mill and fill paving techniques to address worn and deteriorating road conditions.

Improvements will also include adding buffered and protected bike lanes in select locations while maintaining existing bike lanes elsewhere, improvements to bus stop infrastructure, and pedestrian curb ramps upgraded to current ADA standards.

In addition to roadway improvements, the project includes  water and sewer system upgrades, including approximately 7,629 linear feet of water pipe replacement and 1,825 linear feet of sewer pipe replacement.

Construction Notes

As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, cycling, or walking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and changing roadway conditions. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.

Typical working hours are 7:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. During those hours traffic control measures and lane closures may be in effect.

Night work (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) and weekend work may occur with advance notice.
