Potholing Operations Wrapping Up This Week

[updated!] Crews will be completing potholing operations along the Calistoga Road corridor by the end of this week. With this initial step nearly finished, crews will transition to underground sewer line work beginning next week.

Potholing involved digging small excavations to confirm existing underground utilities, helping crews plan the upcoming pipeline work safely and accurately.

Underground Sewer Work Begins South of Monte Verde Drive

[new!] Beginning next week, crews will start underground sewer pipeline replacement work along Calistoga Road, starting just south of Monte Verde Drive and progressing south toward Highway 12.

While this work is underway, Calistoga Road will remain open to traffic in both directions. However, a lane shift will be in place for the northbound lane while crews work along the east side of Calistoga Road. Motorists should watch for traffic control signage, follow flagger directions, and allow additional travel time through the area.

Dupont Drive Intersection: Flashing Red Signal and Temporary Closure

[new!] Expected to begin Tuesday next week, the traffic signal at the intersection of Dupont Drive and Calistoga Road will be set to flashing red. When approaching a flashing red signal, treat it as a four-way stop.

Starting in the middle of next week, the intersection will be closed to motorists entering and exiting Dupont Drive at Calistoga Road while crews perform underground work. During the closure, motorists will be detoured east to St. Francis Road. This detour is expected to remain in place for approximately two days while the work is completed. Vehicles traveling through the intersection on Calistoga Road will not be detoured.

Schedules are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Marit Drive Intersection Work to Follow

[new!] Following completion of the work at the Dupont Drive and Calistoga Road intersection, crews will begin similar work at the Marit Drive and Calistoga Road intersection. A comparable lane closure and detour will be in place during this work. Additional details and timing will be provided as the work approaches.

Project Overview

The Calistoga Road Pavement Rehabilitation & Utility Improvement project will repair and restore approximately 1.1 miles of Calistoga Road using Full Depth Reclamation and mill and fill paving techniques to address worn and deteriorating road conditions.

Improvements will also include adding buffered and protected bike lanes in select locations while maintaining existing bike lanes elsewhere, improvements to bus stop infrastructure, and pedestrian curb ramps upgraded to current ADA standards.

In addition to roadway improvements, the project includes  water and sewer system upgrades, including approximately 7,629 linear feet of water pipe replacement and 1,825 linear feet of sewer pipe replacement.

Construction Notes

As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, cycling, or walking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and changing roadway conditions. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.

Typical working hours are 7:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. During those hours traffic control measures and lane closures may be in effect.

Night work (8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) and weekend work may occur with advance notice.
